Soft Riot

Our own JJD is headlining this show and it will be a special, pre-release show for his new album on Possession, “The Outsider In The Mirrors“. A newcomer to Glasgow, Soft Riot is a Canadian intruder now based in the UK. JJD’s personal experience with music, containing elements of synthesiser-based film soundtracks, romantic italo-style flourishes, throbbing arpeggiations and angular, psychedelic synth-pop all tied together with an underlying tension. A singing synthwave octopus.

Nao Katafuchi

Nao is a Japanese artist who makes electronic music with a guitar & a synth box, creating his own world of cold romantic wave. Growing up in the suburb of Tokyo in the 1980’s, Nao spent his teenage years on the streets of Shibuya searching for instruments and records, falling in love with electronic music and inhaling everything that the district had to offer. The urban flair of Tokyo, where the growth of hi-tech industry was years ahead from the rest of the world, influenced what would later become his retro-futuristic trademark sound. In the early 90s he moved to New York and most recently, Münster DE. His first full length album Émergence as “Nao Katafuchi” was released in 2015 with contributions from Kevin Komoda (Rational Youth), Liz Wendelbo (Xeno & Oaklander), Tomo Akikawabaya and Tona Ohama.

Vixxxionary
